冒险娘之旅 Part 8 古城漫游

The ancient Dayan town of Lijiang was charming. At first it felt too commercialized but internet said to slow down your pace and explore the less travelled parts of the town so I decided to do that. Today I woke up early, determined to set out alone without my new found friends. I left the map and phone in my room and was determined to get lost today. Further north of the town was less crowded. The cobbled stone streets were quiet in the cool morning with rows of assorted odd individual buildings to explore. The unique shops, small alleys and bridges were serenely peaceful in the quiet morning with only the sound of clear water running through the canals.

Meandering along the streets, not caring where I ended up was exciting and peaceful at the same time. Too often in life, we set objectives and worked towards our goals. In the end we may have achieved what we set out for but missed the little moments along the journey. How about letting life lead us and be contended with the little gems we find each day? I guess we all needed that once in a while.

On the way I noticed rows of houses leading up a hill so I set out to climb up to the top that night. It took me a while, maybe it was the high altitude or my own stamina but I realised it was not easy climbing anything in Lijiang. I finally arrived on the top and found a quaint teahouse with a good view of the whole town. Lijiang was lit in orange during night that gave a surreal magical feeling like a scene off the movie Spirited Away . I enjoyed a cup of tea, the view and blogging at the same time. Sure was relaxing. By the way, most teahouses and restaurants in the town offered free wifi, just asked for the password from them.
