Ok and so, I have officially started my china solo trip today. I was touched that my mum and sister woke up at 6am to send me off at the airport. Arriving in Kunming 昆明 on Sunday was chaotic since there were people on every streets and shops. Google failed me today, it stated that it will only take half an hour walk from New Era hotel to the railway station. Alright, so it took me an hour because I got a little lost. But it failed to mention that it was almost impossible to get a taxi in the city on Sunday. So I had to bloody walk back an hour again. Well at least all the walking would cancelled out the bowl of Guo Qiao Mi Xian 过桥米线 (Crossing the bridge noodles) with at least 2 inches of oil floating on top. Sigh.
My accommodation was at New Era hotel 新纪元大酒店. It is on Dongfeng west road, a bustling street in the middle of the city and a few blocks away from the Jinma Biji Square which holds the famous Golden Horse & Jade Chicken Archway. There are shopping centres just below and beside the hotel. It definitely a good location to start exploration. The service was good too and most of the personnel were friendly during my stay. But of course since I paid 628rmb per night for this five star hotel.
Nice canal while walking to railway station.

View from my hotel room on 25th floor. Lotsa people today.

My sinful bowl of noodles.
