I woke up late the next morning. I had breakfast at the Zhong Dumpling Restaurant opposite the hostel. The food was platable but not great. Then I walked along the same dark alley to Hongqi supermarket. Of couse the alley was bright in the day but I noticed rusty screws and nails lying askew on the floor. It was really lucky that I did not hurt myself last night. I booked my train tickets to Zhangjiajie 张家界 via Huaihua 怀化 from the counter just 2 shops away from Hongqi supermarket
In the afternoon, I decided to do a self exploration in the city. Chengdu is a developing city showing great promises. Problem was taxi was hard to get around this city. Luckily Lazy Bones is just opposite the Luomashi subway station. I made my way to Tianfu Square 天府广场 to see the huge Chairman Mao statue. The square itself was not as spectacular as I have imagined so I attempted to walk to Chunxi road 春熙路 for some shopping. After 20 minutes of walking, I realised that I was lost and had to ask a couple of times before getting to my destination. Luckily I chanced upon a stall selling a delicious thin crepe wrapped with braised meat and egg in a small alley along the way. By the time I reached the destination, my legs were aching (I guess more from the horse riding rather). After some window shopping, I decided to return via Tianfu Square subway station. And I lost my way again by walking the opposite direction. Tired, I decided to flag a taxi but gave up when it was obvious that every taxis were full in this area. Had to bloody walk back to the subway station which took me another hour. Argghh...
